Youth Suicide Community Conversation
07:00 PM - 08:00 PM
You are invited to a FREE virtual community conversation about youth suicide on December 15, 2020, at 7:00 PM via Zoom. This event is hosted by the Mental Health Association in Michigan and facilitated by the Association for Children’s Mental Health and members of the Youth Advisory Committee. If you are a youth, young adult or parent of a youth or young adult and struggling with the pandemic or looking for coping skills, then this conversation is for you!
We are living in a time of undetermined anxiety and stress due to many factors including the ongoing pandemic, political environment, racism, employment loss, school closings and increased isolation. This has all contributed to a marked increase in anxiety, depression and overall mental health issues impacting everyone, especially our young people.
One of the most alarming public health concerns is the increase in the numbers of young people who are committing suicide. The group that has seen the greatest increase is among youth between the ages of 10 – 34.
There will be conversation about youth suicide and what can be done to help a young person who may be contemplating these thoughts.
