Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming a tool in everyday life—including in behavioral health. This session introduces mental health professionals to ethical, low-barrier ways clients can use AI platforms like ChatGPT to support their wellness between sessions. Attendees will see a live demonstration of AI tools used for journaling, stress tracking, budgeting, and reframing unhelpful thoughts. The session will also address the ethical considerations and limitations of AI in mental health contexts.

Interactive elements will include a live demo of ChatGPT voice conversation mode and a real-time Mentimeter brainstorm on client use cases.

Objectives:

  1. Identify appropriate, non-clinical uses of AI tools like ChatGPT to support client wellness.
  2. Demonstrate how clients might use AI to enhance self-reflection, financial planning, or organization.
  3. Evaluate ethical considerations, including privacy and boundaries, when recommending AI tools.
  4. Distinguish between supportive and inappropriate uses of AI in behavioral health.
